Each of these prints required two to nine plates to produce. Each copper plate was created either through dry point or was covered with a layer of hard ground, drawn into and then etched. These plates were then offset (through printing) onto another plate. Those plates are then aqua tinted and step etched (taking time, opacity, and texture into consideration) to create tonality. The plates were then printed once again, and offset onto another. The final plates were then aqua tinted, brushed clean, and etched one time to obtain a negative of the original image. What we are left with are plates that have line, plates that have tone, and plates that record that which is not clearly as visible on the others (the negative space). Each plate, though made from the original, references, but is not, the original, just as reflection references the light or thought that is used to create the reflection. It, however, is neither the light nor the entity that created the thought.

The plates are then printed onto the surface or plane of the paper. The plane acts as site in landscape architecture. One plate is inked and printed, followed by a second, third, etc. until the print is "built" just as landscape is layered with structure, light, surface, material, programming, and people. Each of the prints is multi-colored. The prints can be made again and again either using the same orientation and layer order or plates can be reordered to create completely new prints that relate to each other but in reality have their own identity.
